G20 Summit: What’s On The Menu For Delegates, From Millets To Litti Chokha?

In order to cater to a number of high-profile visitors, including US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, hotels and restaurants around the city have carefully selected their menus as the nation’s capital gets ready to host the G20 meeting on September 9–10. The hotel business will provide regional specialties from all around the country, from millets to Litti Chokha.

The menu will include eight to ten dishes, ranging from appetizers to the main course, and it will include contemporary takes on classic dishes to provide a full culinary experience. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us to serve not only our famous visitors but also some of the most powerful people in the world. We are all really eager and prepared to get started, a Le Meridien representative told PTI.

What’s being served?
Restaurants in Delhi will offer a variety of meals made with millets as the United Nations (UN) designated 2023 as the International Year of Millets. Foods like pancakes and ragi dosa will gain ‘Millet-ness’. According to Indian Express, JW Marriott will host a millet bar with salads, dates, nuts, and fruits.

Indian millets and carefully selected regional cuisines from India were served at a number of meetings and activities before the G20 summit that were attended by world ministers, senior officials, and civil society organizations.

G20 representatives may be seen visiting an outdoor and indoor event that highlights sweet and savory foods created with millets by domestic business enterprises and small-scale farmers in a video posted on social media. To emphasize that 2023 is the International Year of Millets, delegates were presented to millet types such kodo millet, barnyard millet, red jowar millet, tiny millet, proso millet, etc.

According to a report by Deccan Herald, various Le Meridien restaurants will serve regional specialties from states like Bihar’s Litti Chokha, Rajasthan’s Gatta Curry, Kashmir’s Saffron Korma, Lucknow’s Nalli Nihari, Kerala’s Meen Pollichathu, Goa’s Chicken Xacuti Masala, and West Bengal’s Chingri Malai curry.
