imprisoned for branding her son, an Odisha lady

A mother was detained by Alkund police on Thursday after it was reported that she had used a hot iron to brand her seven-year-old son in Jhinkiri hamlet.

The son of the accused, Nandini Jena, received the cruel punishment on Saturday for his disobedience. The child’s body had burn scars on it.

“We arrested Nandini under relevant sections of the IPC after her father-in-law Kailash Chandra Jena filed a complaint against her,” Alkund IIC Prasant Das said. She acknowledged using a hot iron to mark her kid during questioning.

The youngster was saved from the terrible punishment by his grandpa Kailash, who then took him to the nearby hospital for medical attention. Kailash said that Nandini regularly beat the youngster as a way to vent her resentment at her in-laws.
