In Ambala, farm leaders honor Shubhkaran

Hundreds of agricultural activists and officials honored farmer Shubhkaran Singh on Sunday at the “shradhanjali samagam” organized by the non-political Kisan Majdoor Morcha and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha at the Mohra grain market.

The leaders of the agricultural movement said that they would not disband the campaign until their demands were satisfied, accusing the Haryana government of attempting to instill fear among the participants.

The “asthi kalash yatra,” which began on March 16 near the border with Shambhu, traveled through many state villages before coming to an end in Ambala today.

Farm leader Sarwan Singh Pandher told the crowd, “The government tried to create a perception that it was only a Punjabi movement, but it failed.” The government is being urged by the samagam to heed the requests and enact laws that benefit laborers and farmers. We are not scared of FIRs, even if the government has been filing fictitious cases. The laborers and farmers have been voicing their legitimate concerns and have not broken any laws. We are fighting not only business corporations but also Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The Haryana government has been treating the state as an open jail,” he said. People were warned not to attend the samagam, the police and paramilitary forces were extensively present, and Navdeep Jalbera was detained as part of a plan, but by showing up in huge numbers, they expressed their dissatisfaction with the administration.

According to Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the prime minister employs force against farmers who wished to go to Delhi to peacefully express their grievances, while talking about democracy when visiting other nations. Following his death, events are being conducted to honor Shubhkaran Singh. The next several days will see an increase in the unrest.

According to the farmer leaders, “shaheedi samagams” will be held all over the nation, and on April 7 a major call to action regarding the release of farm activists who have been arrested, including Navdeep Jalbera, Gurkirat Singh, Ravinder Ravi, and Anish Khatkar, will be made.

Amarjeet Singh Mohri, president of BKU (Shaheed Bhagat Singh), Jaswinder Singh Longowal, Abhimanyu Kohar, and a number of other agricultural leaders spoke to the group.

After being placed on detention for two days, Navdeep Singh Jalbera and Gurkirat Singh appeared in court. Gurkirat was placed in judicial detention while Navdeep was placed on a one-day remand.
