In order to field Jalandhar’s Charanjit Channi, Shamsher Dullo flays the move

Leaders within his own party have begun to oppose the plan as former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi’s name has been floating around as a candidate for the Jalandhar seat.

Shamsher Dullo, a former Congress MP, accused Channi of failing to defend the rights of SC students who were harmed by the alleged fraud in the SC Post-Matric Scholarship Program.

“As many as 12 lakh Dalit students faced problems due to the alleged scam, as per a CAG report placed in Parliament,” said Dullo, who was in Jalandhar. Despite allegations claiming that Rs 56 crore had been embezzled as a result of fraudulent admissions, Channi, as chief minister, decided not to file a formal complaint against any of the 70 institutions from whom recovery was expected, therefore providing relief to them all.

The Aam Aadmi Party administration, according to Dullo, was unable to bring the subject to a rational conclusion based on its own findings. Therefore, Banga Akali MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi raised the issue in the Vidhan Sabha recently.

There are rumors that Dullo is linked to the Chaudhary family. “I was a law student at Punjab University with former MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary,” he said. Vikramjit Chaudhary, the son of the former MP, also defended his family by criticising Channi, stating, “The ex-CM should first understand why he lost the Chamkaur Sahib seat in 2022.”
