India Had Issues Because Patel Wasn’t Given the Assignment to Integrate J&K Into the Union: Vice President Dhankhar

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said on Tuesday that things are “on track” with the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution and that India was facing “problems” since Vallabhbhai Patel was not tasked with integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the Union after independence.

Dhankhar said that B R Ambedkar, who chaired the committee that drafted the Constitution, had rejected to write Article 370. Dhankhar reportedly expressed satisfaction that Article 370 is “no longer in our Constitution” in an official statement.

“All states’ integration was assigned to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel except Jammu and Kashmir, and we know the problem we faced,” he said.

At an event hosted by the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) here, the vice president said these things.

Drawing attention to the “solemn House meant for dialogue, debate, deliberation and discussion” that is Parliament, he emphasized the need of educating young people to create narratives that successfully fight the “nefarious narratives” of disruption and disturbance.

Transparency, responsibility, and success, according to Dhankhar, have evolved into the nation’s new standards.

“Power corridors, once infested by corruption and power-brokers, have now been fully sanitised, and this is a big milestone achievement,” he said.

In addition to releasing books, Dhankhar also presented a number of honors on the occasion, including the Paul H. Appleby Award and the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Award for Academic Excellence.
