INDIA VOTES 2024: Increased vigilance against international smuggling

The district government, police, and Border Security Force (BSF) have teamed up ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to stop the smuggling of weapons and drugs close to the international border in Fazilka.

On Saturday, at a forward post in Fazilka, police, BSF, and district administration officials had a special meeting, chaired by Fazilka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Senu Duggal.

According to the DC, stringent steps have been implemented to stop anti-social forces from conducting unlawful operations both within and over Indian borders in an effort to sabotage the peaceful environment and influence upcoming elections.

BSF Commandant M Prasad and Fazilka SSP Pragya Jain took part in the meeting as well.

According to the officials, agency collaboration will prevent any possibility of drug supplies entering Indian territory over the 109-kilometer border with Pakistan in the Fazilka area.

According to the authorities, there is usually a greater potential of smuggling before elections, but precautions have already been taken to prevent it.

According to Commandant M. Prasad, the vigilant BSF soldiers were maintaining vigilance along the border and were determined to hold free and fair elections in which the border villages and the civil administration would take an active role.

In the border communities, a flag march was later organized.
