Karnataka sends a warning as Kerala sees an increase in COVID-19 cases

A Covid caution was sent by the health department on Tuesday due to an increase in cases in Kerala, a neighboring state. The recommendation states that masks should be used while going outside by those 60 years of age and older as well as by expectant and nursing moms. They should stay away from busy places and confined, poorly-ventilated settings.

Individuals experiencing respiratory issues, fever, cough, cold, or runny nose should get medical attention right away. The Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee’s (TAC) recommendations served as the foundation for the advisory’s release. The advice states that individuals should practice good hygiene, which includes often washing their hands. Those who are ill should remain at home and refrain from socializing, particularly with senior citizens. When traveling abroad, people should exercise care and use masks at airports, among other safety measures.

In a circular to health authorities, Health Commissioner Randeep said that limitations at the borders with Tamil Nadu and Kerala do not need to be implemented in order to increase cross-border monitoring in accordance with Central recommendations. He did, however, advise the authorities to exercise caution, make sure that sufficient testing is done, and promptly report any Covid instances.

“At all private and government tertiary centers, including medical colleges, testing of all SARI (severe acute respiratory infections) cases and at least one in twenty ILI (influenza-like illness) cases for Covid-19 should be taken up,” said Health Commissioner Randeep.

District surveillance officials should work together to transmit positive samples to Bangalore Medical College and Research Center (BMCRI) when the Ct (cycle threshold) value is less than 25. According to the circular, all public and private hospitals should practice exercises to make sure they are operationally ready. During a meeting with senior health authorities, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that daily testing will increase to 5,000 by this weekend. On Wednesday, all State health ministers would gather under the direction of Union Health Minister Mansuk Mandaviya.

“We have submitted recommendations,” a TAC member said. As of right now, there’s no need to freak out or put any stringent limits on it. We are keeping a careful eye on JN.1, the COVID-19 version, and its behavior. It is not currently classified as a variety of concern, despite the fact that it is spreading to neighboring Kerala and other nations. He said that the State now has over 70 ongoing instances of COVID-19 and that the government would be requested to take action in light of the circumstances.

According to City Police Commissioner B Dayananda, guidelines for Bengaluru city police’s New Year’s festivities would be made public the next week. In an interview with reporters on Tuesday, he said that there had been talks in this respect with the other relevant departments. Before the rules are made public, a final meeting with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s officials would take place, he said. We’ll review last year’s New Year’s festivities to make sure there are extra security and safety measures this year. Brigade Road and MG Road’s New Year’s celebrations will go as normal. “Every precaution will be taken to guarantee the public’s safety as well as the safety of those taking part in the festivities,” he said.
