Mahabubabad: Debt-ridden retiree passes away the day after ingesting insecticide

A 43-year-old farmer passed away on Sunday morning while receiving treatment at the Mahabubabad Government Area Hospital. The farmer had eaten insecticide at his home in Narsimhulapet mandal on Friday.

According to the Narsimhulapet police, Srinu, the farmer, farmed three acres of paddy and chilli crops.

He did, however, accrue significant debts, including loans from private lenders, as a result of agricultural losses. Then he started to worry about paying it back and was upset.

Authorities said that Srinu may have taken the drastic action as a result of his mounting debt.

Sub-Inspector (SI) G Satish Kumar of Narsimhulapet said that the victim’s relatives had filed a formal grievance, claiming that Srinu committed suicide as a result of financial and personal problems. The SI also said that a post mortem examination was carried out at the government area hospital and that a case has been filed under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in response to their complaint.
