Mann cautions police not to stir up support for “corrupt colleagues”

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann cautioned Revenue Department officials on Wednesday that they would face harsh disciplinary action if they participated in a protest “in favor of their corrupt colleagues.”

In a statement, Mann said that it would not be permitted at any cost if the people were inconvenienced because of the whims and caprices of the tax officials.

The deputy commissioner (DC) employees and tax officers are permitted to strike, he said, but any disruption to the general public is intolerable. These cops are allowed to go on a “pen down strike,” Mann added, but the state government will ultimately determine whether or not to give them their pen back.

The CM warned the staff that this wrongdoing will result in severe punishment. Many young people in the state who are jobless, according to Mann, are prepared to serve the state by picking up the pen. He urged the officers not to go on a “pen-down strike” in defense of individuals who are accused of corruption or out of self-interest.

The state administration, according to the CM, is steadfastly devoted to eliminating corruption in the state. He said that the state government established a zero-tolerance stance against corruption as part of this approach.

Mann said that the endeavor to make the system open, clean, and effective in the wider public interest would not spare either corrupt elements or his sympathizers.
