Mumbai: A retired PWD official loses Rs 36 lakhs in the ‘Special 26’ imitating a movie scam

Six robbers stole money and valuables worth Rs 36 lakhs from the home of a retired PWD employee under the guise of a raid while acting as police officials in a fraud reminiscent of Bollywood.

Kantilal Yadav’s home was reportedly searched by burglars who were acting as Anti-Corruption Bureau agents. He was a public works department employee who has since retired.

According to the victim’s complaint, six men barged into Yadav’s home last week while pretending to be from the Mumbai Police’s “Anti-Corruption Bureau” and saying they had been given permission to search.

The burglars took Yadav and his wife’s cell phones and forced them to follow one of the crooks who was directing them while the home was being searched. Yadav’s wife was instructed to provide the cabinet keys.

The bearded guy refused to reveal his identify when Yadav insisted on viewing it and stated it will be revealed when the operation was over, according to reports.

The other five conspirators rifled through every cabinet in the three-bedroom apartment while Yadav and his wife were told to sit with their boss.

A gold chain worth Rs 3.80 lakh, a ring and a bracelet worth Rs 4.20 lakh, a diamond ring worth Rs 40,000, a diamond-studded gold mangal sutra worth Rs 80,000, and two wrist watches worth at least Rs 10,000 were discovered during the fictitious search, according to the report.

The gang members removed the valuables from the cabinets and placed them into a leather bag before leaving.
