One gets hurt when a monetary quarrel results in gunfire in Ajnala

In the Fattewal Khurd hamlet of Ajnala, an argument over money became violent when many armed individuals broke into a home and opened fire on a man, according to police today.

The offender had purchased a tractor that was subsequently discovered to be malfunctioning, and the victim, 38-year-old Gurpreet Singh, was a tractor dealer. The accused were requesting that their money be returned.

Sheru from Ibban Khurd village, Lovepreet Singh, and three unidentified others were named as the suspects. Since the event on Saturday, all of them have fled, and the Ajnala police have filed an Arms Act case and reported an attempt on their lives.

Gurpreet informed the police that around two months before, he assisted Darshan Singh, also known as Bhola, of Ibban Khurd in purchasing a tractor from Sukhdev Singh and Sunil Kumar of Narot Jaimal Singh in Pathankot, for a total of Rs 5 lakh. He added that they had returned the tractor when it was discovered to be faulty.

He said that while Sunil Kumar had given Darshan back Rs 1.5 lakh, he was taking his time repaying the remaining amount. He said that Sheru, Darshan’s son, was threatening to get the remaining money back. According to him, yesterday, the accused arrived in a vehicle and broke into his home as he was preparing to turn in his legally owned.12 bore rifle to the police station in accordance with the model code of behavior. He said that Sheru, who was grasping a revolver, began assaulting him and took his weapon.

Gurpreet said that they fired two rounds at him, missing one and hitting his right arm, causing him to fall to the ground. The firearm was left behind when the accused fled from the scene. They hurried him to the hospital.

SHO Harpal Singh of the Ajnala police station stated that searches were on to apprehend the suspects who were running away.
