Parliament’s monsoon session: sine die adjournment of the Lok Sabha

On Friday, Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die.

The adjournment of the House was announced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Birla reported that 17 Lok Sabha sessions were held during the Monsoon Session, which started on July 20.

The House worked for 44 hours and 15 minutes during this time, he said.

In his closing comments, Birla noted that during the session, 20 Bills were presented and 22 Bills were passed.

On August 9, 2023, oral responses were given to all 20 questions with stars.

The 12th Lok Sabha session was held at this time.

Speaker Om Birla thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the heads of all the parties, and the MPs for their cooperation throughout the sessions.

On Thursday’s Lower House floor, a resolution of no confidence was discussed by a total of 60 members, but it was ultimately rejected.

In the Lok Sabha, the NDA easily overcame the no-confidence motion by a voice vote.

On July 26, the opposition submitted a no-confidence resolution against the PM Modi administration, which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took up.

The Manipur violence and other hot-button topics were the subject of a furious debate during the course of the motion’s three days between the coalitions in power and the opposition.

This was the second no-confidence vote that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to confront.

The first such resolution against the Modi administration was submitted in 2018 over the decision to award Andhra Pradesh special category status, however it was ultimately defeated.
