PM Dahal of Nepal expresses sympathy for the victims of the Balasore railway disaster

On Saturday, Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, often known as “Prachanda,” expressed sorrow for the deaths caused by an Odisha railway disaster. He sent his sympathies to the families of the victims, the administration, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

I’m pained by the loss of dozens of lives in a railway disaster in Odisha, India today, the office of the prime minister of Nepal tweeted. I send my sincere condolences to the dead families, the government, and Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji at this difficult time.

The Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed after striking a cargo train at Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore, resulting in up to 233 fatalities. Amitabh Sharma, a spokesman for the railway, said that the accident happened on Friday at 7 p.m.

Pradeep Jena, the chief secretary of Odisha, said on Saturday that 233 people had perished in the horrifying train crash in Balasore. Jena reported to ANI that “the death toll in the horrific train accident in Balasore, Odisha, has risen to 233.”

In the meanwhile, the railway disaster has prompted the government of Odisha to designate Saturday a day of mourning. On Saturday, Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik announced a day of mourning and that no state events will take place.

The state I&PR Department issued a formal release on behalf of the news. The Goa-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express’s formal flag-off ceremony has been postponed due to the sad accident in Odisha, according to Konkan Railway authorities.

A high-level investigation into the incident on Friday night has been ordered, according to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday. Vaishnaw described the situation as tragic in an interview with ANI, adding that the rescue effort got under way as soon as information of the occurrence reached his ministry. He said that the purpose of the investigation was to ascertain what led to the derailment of the passenger train cars.
