Prior to elections, BJD releases a manifesto panel

On Wednesday, BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced the formation of a 38-member party manifesto committee, chaired by veteran politician and Berhampur MP Chandrasekhar Sahu.

The chief minister said that in order to draft a party manifesto, the committee would consult with members of the party’s various age categories, neighborhoods, and social groupings. The manifesto will outline the strategies for guiding the state’s transition to become “New Odisha, Empowered Odisha.” The party has also asked state residents for their feedback on the manifesto. Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra is the co-convenor of the committee, which will be led by former MP Amar Patnaik. The co-chairmen include former ministers Mangala Kissan and Padmanav Behera, editor of Utkala Prasanga and Odisha Review, Industries Minister Pratap Deb, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marndi, and Party vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra.

Three non-resident Odisha experts, Sukant Kumar Mohapatra, Sopnendu Mohanty, and Amiy Mishra, are also on the committee. Arun Kumar Sahoo, Santrupt Mishra, Sanjay Kumar Dasburma, Sushant Singh, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, and Achyutananda Samanta, among other senior figures, have also been admitted as members.
