Rajiv Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner, Receives ‘Z’ Category CRPF Security Coverage

In light of possible threats, the Center has given Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar a Z-category VIP security cover for armed commandos.

The Central Reserve Police Force has reportedly been given the duty of deploying a detachment of around 40–45 troops by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The Central Security Agencies’ danger perception analysis has suggested that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kumar has a robust disguise. The action was taken in the midst of getting ready for the seven-phase general elections, which start on April 19.

According to the sources, the CEC would go around the nation accompanied by armed commandos.
Kumar is a 1984 batch IAS officer who is now retired. On May 15, 2022, he assumed office as the 25th CEC. On September 1, 2020, he was appointed by the poll board as an election commissioner.
