Seat-Sharing Obstacle Affects MVA as Congress and the Shiv Sena Quarrel Before the 2024 Election; Important Meeting With Kharge Today

Not all is going smoothly in the MVA as disagreements have surfaced between the Congress and Shiv Sena UBT on seat sharing in Maharashtra before to the 2024 election.

Sena Shiv Sanjay Raut, the leader of UBT, has said that the party is determined to run for 23 Lok Sabha seats, which is the same number it did in the 2019 election when Sena and the BJP were in an alliance. Congress leaders, however, have voiced their disapproval and will meet with party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday in Delhi to address the matter. After that, Kharge will decide what has to be communicated to alliance partners on seat sharing.

Speaking about the situation, Mumbai-born former MP and Congress leader “Whatever happened with Shiv Sena and NCP is really unfortunate,” said Sanjay Nirupam. Since the two parties have now separated, it is hard to estimate how many votes each will get. If someone is asking for 23 seats in such a situation, it is not the appropriate course of action.

In response to the criticism, Raut said that Congress should not determine whether Sena has divided or not. The people who vote elect MPs and MLAs. Voters stay loyal to their party even if leaders leave. During the most recent Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena ran for 23 seats and won 18. Although some of the previous winners may have shifted their allegiance, seat sharing cannot be voted upon due to party division. Congress must instead make a fresh start. However, we remain steadfast in our choice to run for 23 seats.

The meeting between Kharge and state Congress officials, including Mumbai Congress Chief Varsha Gaikwad, is the focus of attention this Friday.

Kharge will get an update on Congress’s election readiness as well as information on all 48 seats. The Congress chief will probably get a presentation from the leaders outlining which fresh seats, if any, the party may pursue from coalition partners. There will also be a discussion on the Congress’s performance in Mumbai during the previous two elections.

Sources claim that Gaikwad would likely suggest a few amendments, including a few new candidate names, for the Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai.

Sena Shiv In order to assess the situation, UBT chairman Uddhav Thackeray also has daily meetings with the leaders of his party. This is going to be Thackeray’s first significant national election since the party split.
