Small businesses and craftspeople suffer nationwide when Chinese products overtake domestic markets: Rahul

Congressman Rahul Gandhi said on Sunday that Chinese products were overflowing the marketplaces, hurting the nation’s tiny, homegrown businesses and craftspeople. These dealers were allegedly connected to major corporations.

After his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ reached here from Moradabad via Sambhal, he was giving a speech to a crowd.

Many Congressmen and supporters of the Samajwadi Party (SP), an ally of the INDIA bloc, met Gandhi in Aligarh.

The Uttar Pradesh Congress tweeted in Hindi on ‘X’ that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is progressing with the message of togetherness, fraternity, and harmony with ‘Jannayak’ and ‘Lok Netri,’ accompanied by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The party posted a video of the yatra and said “This crowd will send a message to the coming generations that when a dictator was bent on destroying the integrity, sovereignty and the Constitution of the country, we worked to stop him through this yatra.”

Gandhi said that the flood of low-cost Chinese goods was bringing the demise of tiny and cottage industries in the area while large commercial corporations were earning enormous profits, citing the well-known lock industry and craftsmen of Aligarh as examples.

In his remarks, he said, “The next time I come to this city, I would love to see ‘made in Aligarh’ electronic goods instead of China-made ones.”

Gandhi said, “Injustice is the cause of the nation’s growing animosity. Injustices are committed against women, youth, farmers, and the impoverished in India. The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ has been initiated in opposition to this injustice.”

“Why is hatred growing throughout the nation, and what is the cause behind it? “I must have asked thousands of people this question,” he said, to which the audience responded, “Vote bank.”

Gandhi continued, saying, “Brothers and sisters, please do not believe this; there is no vote bank. Indians, both farmers and laborers, have informed me that injustice is the root cause of hate and violence.”

We so decided to add the term ‘Nyay’ to the second Bharat Jodo Yatra’s name. Since this second yatra is now striving to bring India together.

The Congress leader said, “Now, this second yatra is fighting against injustice.”

In her speech, Priyanka Gandhi said that in “this period of injustice (anyay kaal)”, unemployment has emerged as the most pressing issue.

She also took aim at the administration, claiming that the Agniveer recruiting program crushed the hopes of young people training to enlist in the military.

Gandhi said that while there are thousands of unfilled government jobs, recruitment campaigns have not been advertised for years. He further claimed that when the positions are, exam papers are leaked.

“Recruitment practices are corrupted. The disillusioned among today’s young include the poor, laborers, farmers, Dalits, tribal people, backwards, and middle-class youth. She said, “They are without hope for the future.”

Later, the yatra passed through the city’s suburbs on its way to Agra.
