Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao criticizes BRS while promising monetary assistance for farmers harmed by the rain

Farmers in Telangana have been reassured by Minister of Excise and Prohibition Jupally Krishna Rao that the government would support them financially if their crops were harmed by unseasonal rainfall. In addition, the minister denounced Harish Rao’s remarks and threatened to besiege the Secretariat if farmers were not given compensation for their crop losses.

“The chief minister has already directed the relevant agricultural minister to visit the region and assess the extent of the damage, even though the event occurred less than 15 days ago. They still haven’t turned in the report. This government is prepared, and we have said that we would make the payment once they turn in the report. Farmers have suffered several losses over the last 10 years as a result of excessive floods and drought,” he said. “He made this state enter into a death trap,” the Congress minister slammed Harish Rao. Thus, they are not entitled to remark. We have only been in office for three months, but we will follow through on our promises.”

The state minister said that even though the erstwhile KCR was the Chief Minister, he never paid a farmer a visit during his ten years in office and never made any promises about compensation. “In the previous ten years, 6,651 farmers in the state took their own lives when the BRS was in power, but Rao said nothing. Every year, unseasonal rains cause damage to crops, but no one from the BRS contacts farmers to help,” the Congress leader said on Tuesday at a press conference.

In addition, he questioned if crop insurance, input subsidies, and crop loss compensation had ever been put into place under the BRS system. Thousands of acres in the state suffered damage to standing crops due to hailstorms and strong winds.
