The inaugural meeting of the new Chandigarh Mayor’s House will include free water

Residents may get 20,000 liters of free water each month as the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) new mayor, Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor, will present a plan in this respect at his first-ever Municipal Corporation (MC) House meeting.

Dr. SS Ahluwalia, the co-incharge of the city AAP, confirmed this by saying, “The agenda will be brought in our very first House meeting.” We shall honor our pledge to provide the people of Chandigarh with free water. The AAP-Congress coalition candidate Dhalor, often known as Tita, was proclaimed the victor of the mayorship by the Supreme Court yesterday. The AAP has made this commitment during the 2021 May Day elections. The party on its debut had secured 14 seats.

It had tried to have the assurance approved. The party presented a measure to the House in November 2022 that would grant every home a zero-cost water use allowance of up to 20,000 liters per month. However, it became trapped and was never released.

The agenda will be forwarded to the UT Home Secretary, and the Secretary of Local Government, for final approval when it has been approved by the MC House. It is seen as a significant polling component that might have a significant influence prior to general elections. The party may carry out its intention to provide free parking in all facilities that need payment in the future. It will be fascinating to see, nevertheless, how the plan is received by Congress.

An unsuccessful attempt in 2022

AAP has pledged to provide every family with 20,000 litres of free water during the 2021 MC elections. With 14 seats gained, the new party had the most in the election.
The party attempted to pass the guarantee in November 2022. It presented a measure in the House that would provide free water up to 20,000 liters of use.
