The National Crisis Management Committee evaluates cyclone readiness and guarantees Gujarat’s government all assistance

The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) met on Monday to examine how well the Gujarat government and federal agencies were prepared for the coming Cyclone Biparjoy and to assure the state that it would get all necessary assistance.

An official statement noted that fishermen have been urged to stay out of the water and that everyone who is at sea has been asked to return to a secure dock. A list of all susceptible settlements has been created for the purpose of evacuation, it claimed, and 21,000 boats have been parked overall.

The NCMC, presided over by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, received a briefing from the director general of the India Meteorological Department on the condition of the highly dangerous cyclonic storm Biparjoy over the eastern Arabian Sea.

The cyclone is quite expected to continue moving north until Wednesday morning, at which point it will traverse the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of India and the neighbouring Pakistani beaches between Mandvi, Gujarat, and Karachi, Pakistan, near Jakhau Port, Pakistan, by Thursday lunchtime.

According to the statement, by then it would have degraded to a very severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 125–150 kmph. The NCMC was informed by Gujarat’s chief secretary of the precautions being taken by the local government and the chief secretary of Gujarat to safeguard the people in the projected route of the cyclone.
