The TMC will organize a sit-in in New Delhi to press the issue of debt repayment: Abhishek Banerjee

Abhishek Banerjee, a senior Trinamool politician, said that the party will stage a sit-in in New Delhi to highlight the issue of paying off the state’s debts.

Tuesday, TMC national general secretary Banerjee claimed the BJP administration has stopped funding the MGNREGA program, which has 11.36 lakh beneficiaries in the state, while speaking at a panchayat election rally in the Nadia district.

The 100-day work plan and Awas Yojana funding have been suspended by the BJP-led Centre. Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ask him to provide the cash. After that, the TMC MPs went to see Union Minister Giriraj Singh to make the same request, but nothing happened,” he claimed.

Through the provision of at least 100 days of guaranteed wage work throughout a fiscal year, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural work Guarantee Act of 2005 (MGNREGA) seeks to increase the livelihood security of families in rural regions.

The only option, according to Banerjee, was to go to Delhi and advocate for the underprivileged people of the state there.

He said, “We will go to Delhi and have a sit-in in front of the Krishi Bhavan calling for justice for our people.

According to the two-time TMC MP, the Bengal BJP leaders are writing to the “Centre requesting it to hold the state funds” rather than arguing for the discharge of the outstanding debts.
