To combat the “propaganda” over the Kaleshwaram project by the Cong government, BRS leaders go for Medigadda

As part of their “Chalo Medigadda,” Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) representatives set out for Medigadda barrage on Friday in an attempt to refute the Congress government’s “propaganda” against the Kaleshwaram project.

All of the senior party officials, including MLAs, MLCs, and MPs, departed Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters in Hyderabad, for Medigadda, with the exception of BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The leaders departed for Medigadda in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in busses, led by BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao.

After a few of the barrage’s piers collapsed in October of last year, the Center sent a team from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). The matter had a political dimension when the Congress and BJP launched attacks on the BRS administration, contending that the piers’ sinking and the design and implementation faults highlighted by the NDSA in its report validated their claims of project corruption.

Following its election in December, the Congress party requested an investigation into Medigadda by the Vigilance Department and by the courts.

On February 13, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy toured the barrage accompanied by ministers and MLAs from the governing Congress party, AIMIM, and CPI. BJP and BRS declined his invitation to attend the visit, despite his having invited all the parties.

Following the visit, the Chief Minister said that around Rs 94,000 crore of public funds were squandered on the project, given that the Medigadda barrage was rendered ineffective after three years of development due to pier sinking.

The Congress government also said that deficiencies in design and construction quality were shown by the Annaram and Sundilla barrages, where issues also originated.

On the other hand, the BRS rejected the Congress’s accusations and charged it of orchestrating a campaign to defame the former administration.

K. T. Rama Rao said before departing for Medigadda that the purpose of their tour is to inform the public about the advantages of the Kaleshwaram project and to urge the government to start repairs right enough to prevent hardship for farmers.

According to KTR, the Congress government’s stance indicates that politics has more significance for them than agriculture.

He said, “Congress has hatched a conspiracy to see that the barrage washes out in the upcoming rainy season by not undertaking repairs.”

The head of BRS counseled Congress not to punish farmers for their resentment of BRS. To ensure that farmers are not harmed, we are requesting that the government begin repairs on the damaged piers. He said, “We have already stated that the government may order any investigation to punish anybody found guilty.

Former Assembly Speaker and senior BRS leader Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the Congress was waging a disinformation campaign because they were blind to the advantages of the Kaleshwaram project.

Medigadda is but a portion of the larger undertaking. Merely three of the 84 Medigadda piers have sustained damage. It can be the result of technical issues. It takes place in global projects. He said that although the government should act and fix the problems, it shouldn’t make the matter more political.

According to Srinivas Reddy, “Chalo Medigadda” is an attempt to remind the government of its duties.

T. Harish Rao, the senior leader of the party and a former minister of irrigation, will outline the project’s qualities and the advantages it brought to the state via a PowerPoint presentation.
