West Bengal Panchayat Election 2023: Latest Results
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is reportedly in the lead in 445 of West Bengal’s 63,229 gram panchayat seats, while the BJP is in the lead in 21 seats, according to a report from The Times of India at 9:10 AM.

Other political parties and Congress have not yet won any seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, and other political parties have not yet won any seats, according to TOI, while TMC is leading in 136 of 9,730 panchayat samiti seats.

Votes cast for 73,887 seats in zilla parishad, panchayat samiti, and gram panchayat will be tallied at 339 locations across 22 districts of the state, according to earlier reports.

According to the government, all counting centers have CCTV cameras and a deployment of central troops.

“The counting, which started at 8 am, will probably go on for the next two days. The process of counting the votes and compiling the results will take some time. By the end of the day, we anticipate having a trend accessible, said an SEC representative.

Revoting in the affected booths in Bengal
The state election commission, led by Rajiva Sinha, was compelled to order a repoll at impacted booths in all but three districts of Bengal as a result of the tremendous extent of violence and suspicions of vote rigging on Saturday.

Officials claim that, except from a few minor glitches, the state election commission’s order for a second round of voting at 696 booths in 19 Bengali districts went off without a hitch, with 69.85% of all eligible voters casting votes as of 5 p.m.

The governor of West Bengal, CV Ananda Bose, declared: “We will battle nonstop to stop the rising violence in West Bengal. The lawbreakers and thugs will face a hard hand from the authorities.

Information about Bengal’s 2023 Panchayat Elections
The re-voting began at 7 am under strict security, with state police and at least four members of the central forces stationed in each booth.

On July 8, voting began at 7 am in 73,887 seats in the state’s rural districts, with 5.67 crore people casting their votes to determine the destiny of almost 2.06 lakh candidates.

66.28 percent of voters were registered as of 5 p.m., according to authorities.

According to media sources, around 5.67 crore people were expected to exercise their right to vote in order to choose members for almost 928 seats over 22 zilla parishads, 9,730 panchayat samity seats, and 63,229 gram panchayats.

The panchayat election, which involves over 65% of the state’s population and takes place before the 2024 parliamentary elections, is acting as a litmus test for the state’s political parties and has the potential to completely alter the political landscape of the state.

Given that the majority of the 42 parliamentary seats are located in rural regions of the state, this election is also a chance for the parties to assess their booth-level organization in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

There are 63,229 gram panchayat seats, 9,730 panchayat samiti seats, and 928 zilla parishad seats spread over 22 districts, with the highest two levels of government in Darjeeling and Kalimpong being the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) and the Siliguri Sub-divisional Council.
