UP: Samajwadi Party declares their candidates for the next by-elections to the legislature

In addition to the Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party on Friday unveiled its three candidates for the bypolls, which will be contested in four assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The party has nominated Vijay Singh Gond for Dudhi, Rakesh Yadav for Gainsari, and Avadhesh Kumar Verma for Dadraul. The Samajwadi Party’s Lucknow headquarters provided this information.

In the meantime, the Samajwadi Party severed its connections with Apna Dal (Kameravadi) on Thursday due to long-running public disagreements between the alliance partners.

Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, responded to a question from the media on Thursday by saying, “We were in alliance with Apna Dal (Kameravadi) in the 2022 Assembly polls but it is not in 2024.”

A day after Apna Dal (Kameravadi) declared candidates for three Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the chief secretary of the SP made his declaration.

It was stated by the Apna Dal (K) that it will field three candidates in the next Lok Sabha elections. The BJP won all three of the seats—Phoolpur, Mirzapur, and Kaushambi—in eastern Uttar Pradesh in 2019.

On Wednesday night, the Samajwadi Party also unveiled their slate of six candidates, one of whom was the candidate for Mirzapur, a seat that the Apna Dal (K) had separately claimed.

In the February Rajya Sabha elections, rifts between the two parties became evident when Pallavi Patel, the leader of Apna Dal (K) and an SP MLA, declined to cast her support for two SP candidates, claiming that the SP had disregarded its own PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpasankhyak) formula in selecting candidates. Eventually, she said that out of the three SP candidates, she had voted for the one Dalit.

Dr. Sonelal Patel, the head of the OBC, created the Apna Dal (K), a section of the Apna Dal that perished in a car accident in 2009. Apna Dal (Sonelal), an ally of the BJP, is led by Anupriya Patel, the other daughter of Krishna Patel. She is an MP from Mirzapur and a Union minister.

Prior to the 2022 state elections, the Samajwadi Party of India (SP) has forged a broad coalition with many minor parties, such as the Apna Dal (K), Keshav Dev Maurya’s Mahan Dal, Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) led by Jayant Chaudhary.

While the Mahan Dal has pledged allegiance to the BSP, the RLD and the SBSP have fled to join the BJP-led NDA.

It is expected that the Bihar Lok Sabha elections of 2024 would be a significant political event. The elections, which are set to take place in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, will include participation from each of the state’s forty seats. On June 4, the election results are anticipated to be announced.

With 62 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2019. Soneylal’s Apna Dal won two seats. Only five seats were won by the Samajwadi Party (SP) and ten by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), respectively.

The BJP won 71 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections of 2014. APN Dal secured two seats. The SP was only able to get five seats.
