Youth perishes in traffic accident

Phagwara: On Tuesday night, a young person was struck by a speeding car here and instantly passed away. The dead have been identified as Bhaghana village resident Raman Kumar, who lived close to Phagwara. After the incident, the suspect was able to escape. A case has been filed by the police in accordance with IPC Sections 304A, 279, and 427. After the post-mortem investigation at this Civil Hospital, the corpse was given to the family. OC

Two were detained for pilfering livestock

Phagwara: Two people have been taken into custody by the Shahkot police for livestock theft. The accused, according to investigating officer Sulinder Singh, are Fariyad, a Saharanpur resident, and Naushad, an Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, resident. Satnam Singh, a resident of Dhando Wal village, said to the police that on the evening of December 19, the suspects attacked his cow shed and fled with three buffaloes. The IO said that a case against the suspects has been filed under IPC Sections 380 and 457. OC

Two people were detained for heroin

Phagwara: Two drug dealers have been taken into custody by the Mehat Pur police on suspicion of peddling heroin. The accused include Nider Pal, the brother of Viki Singh, also known as Raunnki, who lives in the hamlet of Ismiyal Pur. According to Jaspal Singh, the investigating officer (IO), 10 grams of heroin were found in their hands. The IO said that a case had been filed against the suspects in accordance with Sections 21(b), 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act. OC

Man detained with an unauthorized gun

Phagwara: A resident of Nakodar was taken into custody by the Lohian Khas police on suspicion of illegally having a handgun. The suspect, named as Harjinder Singh, also known as Jinder, is a resident of Chitti village who is within the jurisdiction of the Lambarra police station, according to investigating officer (IO) Balwinder Singh. The IO said that a live cartridge and a handgun produced in the nation had been found in his possession. A case has been filed against the suspect in accordance with Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act. His motorbike was also seized by the police. OC

The woman stole the gold chain.

Phagwara: On Tuesday afternoon, a lady riding a scooter near Bhai Kanyiya Gurdwara had her gold chain stolen by an unnamed offender on a motorbike. The victim, known as Khangurra village resident Jasmin Kaur, was riding her scooter home when the culprit grabbed her gold chain. The biker did the deed and was able to get away. A case has been filed by the police under IPC Section 379-B.
