Against England, Ravindra Jadeja surpasses Sourav Ganguly’s record to become the fifteenth Indian player to reach 1000 Test runs; complete list

On Thursday, the first day of the Test, Jadeja scored his fourth century, helping India surpass 300 after they had been reduced to 33/3 in the first session. Jadeja and Rohit Sharma achieved a partnership of more than 200 runs, which is just the third time that an Indian combination has achieved this feat against England. Together, he and Sarfaraz Khan, who was making his debut, scored 77 runs, helping India finish Day 1 at 326/5.

It was Jadeja’s second century against England. In July 2022, during the Birmingham Test, he also scored a century against the Three Lions. Jadeja now has 1000 Test runs against England at an average of 35.71 in 30 innings (18 Test matches*) after his 112-run effort in the first innings of the Rajkot Test. Additionally, he has six career fifty-scores against the opponents.

In Test cricket matches against England, Sachin Tendulkar leads India in runs scored and is only the second Indian batsman to reach the 2000-run milestone, following Sunil Gavaskar.

Tendulkar Sachin: 2,535 runs
Gavaskar, Sunil – 2,483 runs
1,991 runs scored by Virat Kohli
Amit Agarwal – 1,950 runs

Dhoni of MS: 1,157 runs
Engineer Farokh – 1,113 runs
Ashwin, Ravichandran – 1,048* runs

After Ravichandran Ashwin and Kapil Dev, Ravindra Jadeja became the third Indian player to record a double-figure total of 3000 runs and 200 wickets in the format. Jadeja also completed his 3000 Test runs during the match. At the moment, he is the world’s top-ranked Test all-rounder.
