Before the IPL 2024 season, the RCB part ways with Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar, saying “Wish them all the very best in life”

Sanjay Bangar, the team’s head coach, and Mike Hesson, the team’s director of cricket operations, have left the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Following yet another dismal IPL season in which the RCB placed sixth on the points table, it was discovered last month that their contracts were being reviewed. However, the franchise announced the conclusion of their employment contracts on social media on Friday morning.

The RCB commended Hesson and Bangar for their ‘commendable efforts’ over the previous four years, during which they provided chances to a number of capped and uncapped young people, on their official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

On Twitter, the team said, “We congratulate Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar for their remarkable efforts throughout their tenures as Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach of RCB.

“We have always regarded their professionalism and work ethics in the highest respect. In the previous four years, a lot of kids have been given a chance to study and flourish.

We wish Mike and Sanjay the utmost best as their contract expires, the franchise said.

In September, Bangar and Hesson’s contracts were up for renewal, and RCB had previously said that its evaluation of their performances was ongoing. The team’s statement from last month said, “Their deal with RCB is still in place. The review process is still ongoing for the team. If any announcement is made, we shall return.

The team enjoyed a respectable run under Hesson’s leadership when he was coach and afterwards the director of cricket, despite not winning an IPL championship.

Hesson led RCB to a fourth-place finish in the league in 2020, but they fell to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the semifinals. The Kolkata Knight Riders defeated RCB once again despite finishing third the following season.

RCB finished fourth in the IPL 2022 season, which put them in the playoffs once again, although they fell to the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2. The team, however, was unable to advance to the playoffs in the most recent season.

It should be mentioned that Hesson and Bangar get along well with former RCB captain and franchise hero Virat Kohli. The Proteas veteran Faf du Plessis took over as franchise captain for IPL 2022 after the star batter Faf du Plessis resigned as franchise leader after IPL 2021.
