Burnley’s first season victory is denied by a stunning strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi

On Monday, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s incredible goal kept Nottingham Forest in the game and prevented Burnley from picking up their first Premier League victory of the year.

Zeki Amdouni scored the sole goal in the League Cup match between the two teams last season, giving Vincent Kompany’s team a lead four minutes before halftime.

As Amdouni’s exquisite shot from the edge of the box arrowed into the bottom corner, Luca Koleosho was the Clarets’ creative spark as he advanced to the byline.

Since breaking into the England squad as a youngster, Hudson-Odoi’s career has waned.

On the hour mark, though, the ex-Chelsea winger equalized with a looping shot that hit the inside of the post before going into the top corner.

Lyle Foster’s goal 13 minutes from time gave Burnley one more chance to win all three points.

However, a VAR review determined Sander Berge handled the ball before setting up the South African.

Foster was then given a red card in stoppage time for yelling at Ryan Yates, which added to his aggravation.

Burnley’s first point back in the Premier League was at least earned thanks to the ten men’s perseverance.

Forest will move up to sixth with only a draw.
