Chris Gayle heaps praise on ‘phenomenal’ Yashasvi Jaiswal, saying, ‘Let Him Continue To Flow’

With his daring batting ability, Yashasvi Jaiswal is making waves in the Test cricket world and has scored two double hundreds in his last three Test matches against England. It seems like there is no stopping him.

Chris Gayle, a former West Indies hitter and dubbed the “Universe Boss,” has gotten in on the topic about how his fierce aggressiveness has prompted many to compare him to other great batters.

In an interview with AFP, Gayle cautioned against tampering with the technique of the emerging star from India, stating that Jaiswal reminded him of the “attacking version” of his former West Indies teammate Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

On Friday, the eve of India vs England’s fourth Test in Ranchi, he said, “A lot will be expected of him as he goes on but they should just let him continue to flow.”

“His T20 cricket matches also demonstrate his attacking prowess. It’s also in his nature, therefore they shouldn’t attempt to control or alter him.

Gayle also mentioned the remarks made by England opener Ben Duckett, who said that Jaiswal’s achievement should really be attributed to his coach Jwala Singh. Duckett argued that England’s aggressive style at the bat in Test cricket has pushed their opponents to play differently.

“I don’t believe Jaiswal picked it up in England. He created that playing style in collaboration with Jwala Singh, his coach and mentor. He’s just amazing.

“It’s unbelievable—the guy plays like he’s been playing for 20 years.” All I can do is hope he can continue.

Jaiswal helped India defeat England by a remarkable 434 runs by scoring 209 in the first innings of the second Test at Visakhapatnam and smashing an unbeaten 214 in the second essay at Rajkot.

The 22-year-old became one of just seven cricket players, including two Indians in Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli, to make two hundred in back-to-back Test matches.

At the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi today, the Indian team plays England in the fourth Test. They will be hoping that the young player keeps up his momentum as they look to grab an unstoppable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
