“He stopped me and…”: Ravindra Jadeja remembers a memorable CSK encounter with MS Dhoni

NEW DELHI: Prominent Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remembered with fondness the day when captain MS Dhoni of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gave him a hug and a lift after his outstanding performance, which helped CSK overcome the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final, setting a new record for titles.

CSK found themselves in a tight position in the match’s fifteenth and last over, needing 10 runs off the final two balls.

Then, with a six and a four off medium-pacer Mohit Sharma, the seasoned Jadeja swung the balance in his team’s favour.
On their social media page, CSK posted a video showing Jadeja clutching a picture of Dhoni helping him on that unforgettable IPL 2023 final night.
CSK commented on X, “The moment from The Man himself.”

“He (Dhoni) simply stopped me and lifted me up.” Yes, without a doubt, this is my best memory of all time. I will always remember Thala giving me this embrace. This will always have a special place in my heart. I cherish you, Thala. In the video, Jadeja said, “Cheers.”
The first match of the IPL 2024 will take place on Friday at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium between reigning champions CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
