“He Was Prepared for Everything,” Shivam Dube says of MS Dhoni’s outstanding appearance vs MI

Shivam Dube, an all-around player for the Chennai Super Kings, was on fire on Sunday against the Mumbai Indians. In the IPL’s El Clasico, Dube, who plays for Mumbai in the local league, produced an incredible undefeated innings of 66 off 38 balls against the Hardik Pandya-led team.

The 30-year-old, who was born in Mumbai, has had a strong IPL season so far. Dube has participated in six IPL games so far. He has amassed 242 runs at an average of 60.5 and a fantastic 163.51 strike rate.

Dube acknowledged that his knock against MI on Sunday was very meaningful, and he expressed his emotions to the Chennai Super Kings throughout their match.

“First and foremost, I felt happy with the knock, but what mattered most was beating them in Mumbai. Given that the two greatest teams are competing, it was even more spectacular. For me, it means something different. Yes, it was a wonderful knock, and I really loved meeting MS Dhoni today on the 22 yards, Mahi bhai. I thought it was fantastic, Dube said.

“I believe I had a clear strategy. They wanted my wicket, so I knew they would come at me hard. They will thus get the best bowlers. Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad), who was playing (Jasprit) Bumrah, advised me not to criticize him too harshly. He is among the top bowlers. I’m sure he’ll come at me hard. In order to go on to other bowlers, I needed my wicket to be there. That was the idea when Bumrah arrived and we were allowed to ride Hardik. Thus, that was unique,” he said.

In addition to Dube, Dhoni also has a wonderful touch.

Despite facing only four deliveries, the illustrious Indian captain left a lasting impression on the game.

In the last over of the match, Dhoni struck three consecutive sixes against Hardik Pandya. It took Dhoni only four balls to reach 20 and stay undefeated.

Dube remarked, “He just walked in and he tapped on my gloves,” recalling Dhoni’s knock. I didn’t know how to respond to him since I felt like he already knew everything about this place and what would happen. I believe that he was prepared for everything, and those four balls seemed to me like I was in the sky.

Eventually, CSK managed to record a victory of 20 runs.

The Gaikwad-led team has four victories from six games and is currently ranked third in the IPL 2024 rankings.
