India selects an 18-member women’s team for its tour of Bangladesh

For the limited overs tour of Bangladesh, which will begin on July 9 at Mirpur, India picked an 18-member Indian women’s cricket team without right-arm pacer Renuka Singh, Richa Ghosh, or youthful off-spinner Shreyanka Patil.

Three T20Is and as many ODIs between India and Bangladesh are scheduled.

The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur will host all six games.

Smriti Mandhana has been chosen as Harmanpreet Kaur’s assistant, and she will serve as the team’s captain.

However, it is unexpected to see wicket-keeper batsmen Ghosh and Patil absent after they claimed nine wickets to help India win the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Hong Kong last month.

Nobody can determine the reason for Patil’s absence from making her senior side debut despite her extraordinary performances in Hong Kong, and the reason for Ghosh’s omission is also unclear.

Renuka will not be a member of the squad for the duration of the series, according to information obtained.

In the team, there are two wicketkeepers: Yastika Bhatia and Uma Chetry.

While S Meghana is present in the shortest format but not in the 50-over squad, spin all-rounder Sneh Rana is in the ODI team despite not being in the T20 squad.

Squads:

India’s T20I squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Harleen Deol, Devika Vaidya, Uma Chetry (wk), Amanjot Kaur, S. India’s ODI squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Harleen Deol, Devika Vaidya, Uma Chetry (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Priya Punia, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Anjali Sarvani, Monica Patel, Rashi Kanojiya, Anusha Bareddy, Sneh Rana.

The opening T20I of the tour will be played on July 9 at Mirpur, followed by the next two games on July 11 and 13. At the same location, the ODIs will be played on July 16, 19, and 22, respectively.
