Indian junior women’s hockey team rallies to draw 3-3 with England

The Indian junior women’s hockey team tied England 3-3 on Sunday at the 4 Nations Tournament – Dusseldorf 2023 after coming from behind.

For India, goals were scored by Hina Bano (6′), Rutuja Dadaso Pisal (49′), and Mumtaz Khan (53′). For England, Le Huray Martha (4′, 19′) and Alexander Beth (9′) both made their shots.

On both ends of the field, high-intensity activity was taking place as the first quarter got underway. Le Huray Martha (4′) scored a field goal in the fourth minute of the game to give England a solid start and put India on the back foot. However, India immediately equalized with a field goal by Hina Bano in the sixth second. Alexander Beth (9′), who effectively converted a penalty corner, increased England’s advantage. England was in the lead 2-1 after the first frame.

In an effort to tie the game, India upped the frequency of their assaults, but England strengthened their advantage when Le Huray Martha scored again in the 19th minute. The score at the half was England 3-1.

With no goals scored in the third period, England managed to maintain their advantage and control of the game.

India started the fourth quarter with a two-goal disadvantage and started making offensive plays to attempt to make up the difference. India regained possession of the ball after Rutuja Dadaso Pisal’s outstanding field goal (49′). After scoring the second goal, the Indian squad felt confident and continued to attack aggressively to put England under pressure. Then, after effectively converting a penalty corner, Mumtaz Khan scored (53′). The action-packed game finished in a 3-3 tie.

On Tuesday, the Indian squad will play Spain.
