NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 kicked off with a thrilling match at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. The reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by a thrilling six wickets.
With eight balls remaining, CSK defeated RCB’s 173-run total, capping an exciting opening to the season.
In the middle of the fierce match, a social media sensation featuring former RCB skipper Virat Kohli went viral.
Following CSK opener Rachin Ravindra’s departure
and after making his IPL debut, Kohli had an enthusiastic response that was caught on video and caused controversy.
In addition to signalling the beginning of a successful championship defence, CSK’s victory versus RCB at Chepauk also extended their incredible winning run. With the victory, CSK defeated RCB for the eighth time in a row at the stadium, confirming their superiority in head-to-head matches.
While CSK was enjoying their victory, Kohli had difficulties in his first competitive match in more than two months. He only managed a meek 20-ball 21.
