IPL team Lucknow Super Giants hires Sriram as a coach’s assistant

Sridharan Sriram, a former India spinner, was named as an assistant coach for the next season of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) by Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday.

As a member of the Lucknow Super Kings’ coaching staff, Sriram, who played in eight ODIs for India, will work alongside head coach Justin Langer, mentor Gautam Gambhir, assistant coach Vijay Dahiya, spin-bowling coach Pravin Tambe, fast-bowling coach Morne Morkel, and fielding coach Jonty Rhodes.

He formerly worked with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, where he served as the assistant coach and mostly assisted with hitting and spin-bowling. In 2008, he also earned his ECB Level-3 “Head Coach” certification.

The former Tamil Nadu cricketer participated in coaching after hanging up his cleats and has played for international cricket teams. During the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia last year, he worked as the team’s technical advisor and assisted Bangladesh in winning a few matches in the Super 12 stage.

He had previously spent six years, starting in 2016, working with the Australian team, which helped the team win the T20 World Cup and the Ashes in 2021–2022.

He played for many teams in domestic cricket, including those from Maharashtra, Goa, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh after beginning his career with Tamil Nadu.
