James Ward-Prowse of Southampton is expected to go to West Ham United

James Ward-Prowse will be moving from Southampton to West Ham United for a cost of £30 million.

The London club and the England international are about to agree to a four-year contract.

According to reports, West Ham was attempting to sign the 28-year-old as quickly as possible.

Ward-Prowse, who advanced through Southampton’s youth systems, has spent his whole career at the club. He has played 422 times for the south coast team, with 55 goals and 55 assists.

In addition to the stats, Ward-Prowse has emerged as the team’s unspoken talisman and has wowed crowds with his enthusiasm and eye for goal, particularly from free kicks.

Following Le Tissier, it might be said that the 28-year-old has consistently provided the Saints, who have experienced recent Premier League turmoil, with motivation and stability.

The midfielder took part in Southampton’s opening Championship game of the year last week against Sheffield Wednesday but sat out Tuesday’s EFL Cup loss to Gillingham.

In contrast, West Ham is eager to bolster its midfield after Declan Rice’s £105 million transfer to Arsenal.

It was also claimed earlier this week that Manchester United had turned down West Ham’s £30 million offer for Scott McTominay. The 26-year-old is worth more than £40 million to United, and Erik ten Hag would want to retain him.

In July, Fulham turned down a bid from the east London club for midfielder Joao Palhinha that was in the neighborhood of £45 million.

But it seems as if manager David Moyes’ problems with the transfer season are finally coming to an end, as West Ham today also reached an agreement to pay £30 million to buy Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
