“Virat Kohli is under a lot of pressure,” according to Steve Smith, thus RCB hitters will need to step up in the IPL 2024

As of right now, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are now ranked eighth in the Indian Premier League (IPL) standings. The team’s season started with a defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first match of the competition. However, they overcame the Punjab Kings in the thrilling last over thanks to a brilliant blow from Virat Kohli. However, to the dismay of the supporters, RCB has subsequently dropped two more games.

The only player who has shown consistency at the bat is Virat Kohli, who has amassed 203 runs in four games. Dinesh Karthik, batting at seven, is the next best batsman with 90 runs. According to Steve Smith, Kohli is now under a lot of strain because of this significant disparity. Smith believes that before time runs out for the RCB, the other hitters will need to step up since players like Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, and Cameron Green have not performed well at all so far this season.

“He can turn things around for his season if the other important hitters stand up with him. However, Virat isn’t under as much strain right now. He wouldn’t likely be placing further strain on himself. However, Smith told PTI, “Some of the other top-order and middle-order (batters) need to help Virat.”

The former captain of Australia also dismissed criticism of Virat Kohli’s strike rate, pointing out that the former captain of the RCB adapts his style of play to the circumstances. Smith believed that anytime there’s a need, Kohli delivers. “Virat is a fantastic athlete. He summarises the rules and circumstances of the game and adjusts his play appropriately, which is something he does very well—possibly better than most individuals on the planet. He makes a powerful strike when necessary. If he needs to form some alliances and bring it back a little,.

“On some considerations, 150–160 could be sufficient; 180 is not necessary. Virat does a great job of summarising the issue and the situations. “I don’t give a damn about the strike rate,” Smith said.
