Watch: Following a hard loss in Centurion, Rohit Sharma greets Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli was the lone bright spot for the visitors in Centurion on a day when the Indian batting lineup gave up early to South Africa’s blistering pace attack.

In the second innings of India’s first Test match against South Africa, Kohli struck 76 off 82 balls as most of his colleagues went back to the pavilion with a single-digit score. But in the end, his efforts were in vain, as the visitors lost by an innings and thirty-two runs.

Even though India lost badly, Rohit Sharma didn’t forget to honor Virat Kohli.

Standing outside the dressing room, the Indian captain gave Kohli a back pat despite his obvious disappointment with the game’s result. There was also veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who praised Kohli for his hard-hitting jab.

Fans quickly flocked to the comment area of the microblogging site after the video’s release, highlighting the friendship between the two iconic Indian figures.

Riding high on KL Rahul’s century, India scored a creditable 245 runs in their first half. In their first innings, South Africa’s Dean Elgar was the star of the show. With as many as 28 fours in his 185 runs off 287 balls, the 36-year-old opener claimed victory.

Both all-rounder Marco Jansen and debutant David Bedingham contributed significantly as well, scoring half-centuries each.

Day 3 saw the Proteas win the victory as South Africa went on a rampage with the ball, knocking out India for only 131 runs in their second innings.
