Why won’t the Rajasthan Royals play any more games in Jaipur in the IPL 2024?

Table-toppers Rajasthan Royals played their match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, their home since the franchise tournament’s founding in 2008, with six games remaining in their IPL 2024 league rounds.

On Monday, April 22, the team defeated the Mumbai Indians by a comfortable margin of nine wickets. After the match, the players thanked the Jaipur audience by doing a victory lap around the stadium.

After playing eight games—five at home and three away—the Rajasthan Royals have proven to be strong competitors, winning seven of them.

They will play their last two home games of the season in Guwahati, even though four of their remaining six games are away from home. The most important part of this decision is that their home ground has been moved. As a result, the Assamese batsman Riyan Parag, who is a star, will now play his last two home games at Barsapara Stadium.

This tactical change is an attempt to use Parag’s popularity, given that the Rajasthan Royals, the victors of the first IPL season, are the team in the league with the lowest number of followers. With a local youngster on the squad, the decision to move the home site to Guwahati should increase fan participation in the area.

The Rajasthan Royals have previously hosted two of their home games in Guwahati; this is not the first time the team has done it. Even though the games in the Northeast city were regarded as a success, RR supporters were seen objecting to the choice of holding games at a different location.

All eyes will be on the Rajasthan Royals as the competition goes on as they pursue their goal of winning the Indian Premier League in 2024. Guwahati is now their new stronghold, and Riyan Parag is leading the way with his outstanding batting performance.
