With his fourth Test century, Shubman Gill exudes quality as India thrashes England in Dharamsala

During the current fifth and final Test match between India and England in Dharamsala, Shubman Gill has scored his fourth century in the format. The batsman began the day undefeated at 26, and in the first session of the second day, he tormented England’s bowlers everywhere on the field. It’s interesting to note that the ball never misbehaved off the field either, but Gill deserves praise for his effective use of his feet against spin and for making sure he was capable of finishing every delivery.

Shubman Gill’s spot at number three was in jeopardy not so long ago when he returned from the first two Test matches against England with rather modest scores. However, since then, the guy has dramatically improved things and, in the process, guaranteed his spot at first drop for India in Test cricket. Having amassed more than 400 runs in the current series against England, it seems that his struggles at the vital spot in the batting line-up have come to an end.

Returning to his knock. Gill has played aggressively in this innings after adopting a defensive stance for the remainder of the series. The guy has also smashed five sixes so far. His fourth century in Tests since 2021 is second highest for India only to Rohit Sharma’s, who is batting at the other end and has smashed his sixth century since 2021.

Significantly, to the pleasure of Indian supporters, Rohit and Gill have also recorded their first century together. Both batsmen will be eager to bat England out of this Test match and turn this into Daddy hundreds. The hosts wouldn’t want to repeat their error from Hyderabad, when they found themselves down in the first innings with India leading.
