Mayawati Targets Groups Attending Opposition Gathering in Patna

BSP leader Mayawati described the meeting called by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as more about linking hands than hearts on Thursday, ahead of the opposition’s display of unity in Patna.

According to JDU main spokesman K C Tyagi, “We have invited those parties that are willing to fight against the BJP in 2024,” Mayawati has not been invited to the opposition conference on Friday.

He told PTI, “BSP says it won’t join the alliance, so why should we waste our invitation?”

Mayawati remarked that the parties that are scheduled to attend the conference don’t appear to be serious about their goal in Uttar Pradesh based on their approach.

“Eighty Lok Sabha seats in UP are supposedly the key to electoral victory, but it doesn’t appear like the opposition parties are sincere about their goal here based on their approach. Will the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections here really bring about the required change without the correct priorities, she questioned?

“It is clear from the condition of Bahujans in the country that parties like the BJP and Congress are not capable of implementing the humanistic egalitarian constitution framed by BR Ambedkar,” the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said in a series of tweets in Hindi.

In this situation, Nitish Kumar’s June 23 meeting with opposition leaders in Patna is more about joining hands than hearts.

It would have been preferable if these parties had attempted to instill widespread confidence in the populace with clear aims, keeping in mind the preparations for the next Lok Sabha elections.

“How long will ‘Muh me Ram bagal me chhuri’ (speaking praise on face and stabbing in the back) last?” she continued.

The creation of an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be discussed at a gathering of top opposition party leaders on Friday in Patna.

Among the leaders anticipated to attend the first high-level opposition meeting are Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Party Leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Delhi counterpart and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Maharashtra’s Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, and NCP President Sharad Pawar.

The chief minister of Bihar and Tejashwi Yadav, his deputy, are hosting it at this location.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party in UP, will be present at the meeting.

When asked about rumors that Mayawati wouldn’t be attending the meeting, Tyagi said, “When we haven’t invited them (BSP), then why are they claiming they won’t be there.
