Police in Lucknow will have access to mobile drones

Lucknow: To improve policing, the Lucknow Police will soon have access to a new, cutting-edge mobile drone vehicle (MDV).

This drone will fly for 10 to 15 hours, a significant increase from the current 15 minutes.

To enable remote surveillance, the drone is carried by the new MDV, which also acts as its base. Because it can be installed in a matter of minutes, it is ready for use. While most drones have a flying restriction of 15 to 20 minutes, this one can fly for 10 hours.

Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), Law and Order, Upendra Kumar Agrawal, stated: “We conducted a trial run, and it was successful. We are nearing the completion of its launch, which will allow for the monitoring of significant events like processions, cricket matches, and the approaching Lok Sabha elections.

The drone was created by the robotics business Roboz, located in the city, which is headed by robotics specialist Milind Raj. The Goenka Group is funding the drone as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.

“The drone that is mounted in this car will be used for ongoing surveillance. It will keep receiving battery backup power from the car’s generator and wiring. Drones have only been able to monitor for ten to fifteen minutes at this point, the JCP continued.

The group seated inside the automobile will be able to see recorded events thanks to a 32-inch screen. It’s interesting to note that the drone can observe from a height of around 70 feet. Drones can now only capture quality photos from a height of 20 feet or less, the speaker said, adding that drones will be important for monitoring sensitive programs.

According to Agarwal, the drone system may be used to search for criminals who could be present at such gatherings by feeding it criminal data from police databases.

“In the event of a jam, a parked drone in the area may fly to identify the cause of the jam, eliminating the need for a traffic cop to investigate,” the JCP said. “The device will be useful for managing traffic.”
