“Swarg Mein Mauj…”: A Murder Accused’s Hilariously Shocking Live Video Confession in Uttar Pradesh Prison

Recently, a fictitious video purporting to show a murder suspect from Bareilly Central Jail broadcasting a live stream on social media went viral. On Thursday, the police issued an order to investigate the case and promised to take legal action against anyone found to be at fault.

Deputy Inspector General (Prison) Kuntal Kishore said that a video of a murder suspect who was incarcerated became popular on social media in relation to the case. The accused, Asif, is heard declaring, “I am in heaven and enjoying it,” throughout the two-minute video.

Asif is charged with killing 34-year-old Rakesh Yadav, a contractor for the public works department (PWD), on December 2, 2019, in the Sadar Bazar Police Station neighborhood of Shahjahanpur, during the day. Rahul Chaudhury, another accused, is also charged with killing Yadav. Both of them are being held in Bareilly Central Jail.

The brother of the late Yadav contacted District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh on Thursday after seeing the footage on social media and filing a complaint.

In the letter, he claimed that the murder suspects would receive preferential treatment in prison. He said that the two accused had been recruited to murder his brother by someone in Meerut.

DIG Over the phone, Kishore informed PTI that he had seen the footage. “An investigation into the situation has begun. Legal action would be taken against the guilty after an inquiry, he said.
