Did the Baltimore Bridge Collapse ‘Predict’ The Simpsons? This Is Reality

Following the terrifying video of the collapse of the Baltimore Bridge that went viral on March 26, a flurry of conjecture and conspiracy theories took to the internet. Shortly before it struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge and instantly collapsed, initial reports suggested that the cargo ship Dali had lost power, including to its engines. Indeed, prompt action on the part of the local authorities allowed them to stop the bridge in time, barely averting a further disaster.

News of the incident quickly circulated online, stoking curiosity and conjecture like wildfire. As inquiries are conducted to ascertain the precise sequence of events, irrational conjectures swirl in the gossip mill. One of these is the assertion that The Simpsons foresaw the bridge collapse, which strengthens the show’s already-established reputation for ostensibly predicting historical events.

The Simpsons have a well-established history of “predicting” things, from the loss of the Titan Submersible to Apple’s Vision Pro. Some question how the program could have ignored the fall of the Baltimore Bridge in light of this.

The online community was eager to discover fictitious proof, such as a video clip of fake news presenter Kent Brockman ominously proclaiming the bridge’s imminent collapse down to the minute. However, following a deeper examination, concerns began to surface. Since there is no proof that this clip actually featured in the real Simpsons episode, suspicions mounted that the tape may be a cunning AI invention rather than an authentic prophecy.

Some have taken a different scene from the program, which shows the villain Scorpio destroying a bridge with a doomsday bomb, as a foreshadowing of the collapse of the Baltimore bridge. But neither does this scene from Season 8, Episode 2, “You Only Move Twice,” from 1996, make much of a forecast; rather, it alludes to the Queensboro Bridge in New York City, not the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.

Last but not least, a picture that has gone viral on the internet depicts the Simpson family seeing the Baltimore Bridge fall as a ship is buried in water. As a community post on “X” pointed out, this picture has been altered. For example, Lisa Simpson is seen with 10 spikes in her hair instead of the customary eight, although no episode of The Simpsons has ever been known to portray such an occurrence.

So as these conspiracy theories swirl, investigators are working diligently to piece together the crash’s true cause. We’ll simply have to wait for the next episode of reality to air till the smoke clears, it seems.
