Mexican Teen Finds Rs. 1 Crore in Cash Near ATM and Gives It Back To The Police

One day, a modestly-begun kid from New Mexico decided to purchase socks for his grandfather. Instead, he found $135,000 (nearly Rs. 1.1 crore) in cash.

Jose Nuñez Romaniz was able to locate the socks his grandpa was looking for on the internet. He found big bundles of cash next to the ATM on Sunday while making the transaction by depositing money at a bank machine. The 19-year-old called the police to assist in returning the money to its rightful owner rather than keeping it for himself.

“I was at a loss for what to do. I felt as if I were dreaming “to CNN. “I was merely stunned.” I was simply wondering, “What should I do?” while I was staring at myself.

The tale was posted on Facebook by the Albuquerque Police Department, which praised Romaniz for his kind deeds. He received an invitation to the police academy, where his deed of charity was recognized and honored. According to the post, he received financial compensation for his kind gesture. After finding the money, Romaniz called the police since the Wells Fargo branch he was visiting was closed on that particular day.

When the two cops showed up, they grabbed the money and tallied it at the station.

A representative for the Albuquerque police, Officer Simon Drobik, told CNN that “this money could have made an incredible difference in his life if he had chosen another path, but he chose… the path of integrity and did the right thing.”

As reported by KRQE-TV, Albuquerque police Chief Mike Geier remarked, “What a great opportunity for us to see some good in the community amidst all the tragedies we witness involving young people; this truly restores our faith in the community.” On Thursday, Geier gave Romaniz a plaque.

Romaniz, a guy from modest origins, never considered hoarding the money, even though it could have been tempting to do so.

He said, “My parents always taught me to earn my own money.” “Illicit funds wouldn’t yield long-term advantages.”

His generosity was not overlooked. Six University of New Mexico football season tickets and autographed sports memorabilia were given to him by Albuquerque ESPN Radio 101.7 FM. Three nearby companies also gave the teenager $500 (almost Rs 41,000).

His grandfather eventually received what he needed, despite the day’s unexpected turn of events, and he gave it to the radio station. “After returning home, I finished my online shopping.”
