“PhD Sabzi Wala”: Why Did This Former Professor at Punjab University Quit His Job to Promote Vegetables? He Exposes

Unbelievably, a guy who has earned four Master’s degrees and a PhD is now making ends meet by selling vegetables on Punjab’s streets. Dr. Sandeep Singh worked as a contract professor at Punjabi University in Patiala, but unfavorable circumstances forced him to resign.

For over 11 years, the 39-year-old served as a contract professor at Punjabi University’s law department. Singh has four master’s degrees, including ones in Punjabi, Journalism, and Political Science, in addition to his PhD in Law. The fascinating thing is that the professor is still studying; he used to sell veggies.

The professor quit his work due to problems with inconsistent and reduced compensation. In addition, he taught for 11 years at Punjabi University in Patiala, but despite his years of dedication, the government did not approve of him, he said.

He went on, “I still want to be a professor, but right now things aren’t working out.” Singh said that he would study for the rest of his life and is now pursuing a B.Lib.

Singh said that his revenue from vegetable sales surpasses his earnings as an academic. He explained his hectic schedule, saying that after a long day at work, he returns home to prepare for his impending test.

Every day, the former professor travels from house to house selling veggies from his cart. It’s interesting that his cart has a sign that reads, “PhD Sabzi Wala.”

Even though Singh resigned from his position as a professor, he is still passionate about teaching. In order to save money and eventually create his own tuition center, he changed jobs and became a vegetable seller.
