Chhangte is hailed by Boss Kratky as Mumbai City plays Goa today

In the crucial second leg of the Indian Super League semi-final between Mumbai City FC and FC Goa on Monday at the Mumbai Football Arena, head coach Petr Kratky has urged his squad to make the most of their home advantage.

Last week at Fatorda Stadium, the Islanders pulled off a thrilling late comeback to win the first leg of their semifinal matchup against the Gaurs, 3-2.

After trailing 0-2 until the ninetieth minute, the ISL 2022–23 winners emerged victorious over Manolo Marquez’s team thanks to a brace by Lallianzuala Chhangte and a single goal by Vikram Partap Singh in extra time.

Kratky, however, wants his team to focus on winning and advancing to the summit showdown rather than gloating on their victory in Goa, even if Mumbai City is just in need of a draw. “We are aware that this is a tough matchup against a top-tier opponent. I see a 0-0 restart for the game. It makes no difference what transpired in the preceding leg. We have to aim for victory since the winner of this match advances to the final. At the Sunday pregame news conference, Kratky said, “We have to use our power and score goals.” Kratky commended Chhangte, the current ISL Golden Ball champion, for sparking their incredible comeback with two well-timed strikes.

Earlier in the year, Chhangte struggled to establish himself, but he has now improved to be a potent weapon for the Islanders. In 23 appearances, he has nine goals.

“Chhangte is among the top players in India; he scores goals and puts in a lot of effort as needed. Despite having a rough start to the season, he has recovered to score goals and support the team’s cause. Kratky said, “He deserves all the praise he’s receiving right now.
