Bihar Winter: A frigid cold wave in East and West Champaran Kills Three Children

In Bihar, cold-related deaths claimed the lives of up to three youngsters in different incidents. Manish Kumar (13), Sagar Kumar (12), and Mukesh Kumar (7) were named as the dead.

On Wednesday, Manish Kumar, a sixth-grader at Adarsh Government Middle School in Chakia, East Champaran, reported to class. He passed out during the morning prayer session, and was sent to a sub-divisional hospital right away. He had passed away by the time the family arrived at the hospital.

“This morning, Manish attended school. A pupil and the school instructor arrived shortly after. They informed me that he had been taken to the hospital due to illness. The doctor told me he had passed away when I arrived at the hospital since no one was there,” said the deceased’s older brother Chandan Kumar, who was cited by ANI.

The district education official said that the boy had been beaten by his family. The youngster was upset about this and arrived at school without wearing warm clothing and with an empty stomach. The deceased was submitted for a post-mortem, and the situation is still being looked into.

The other two occurrences were in West Champaran, where two kids, Sagar Kumar from Bhainsahiya and Mukesh Kumar from Naya Tola, passed away on Tuesday night after an intense attack of stomach ache.

After experiencing stomach pains, Sagar was sent to a private hospital in Gorakhpur, where he passed away while receiving treatment, while Mukesh was taken to Sadar Hospital in Kushinagar.

According to the bereaved family, the dead had a fever and complained of stomach problems the day they passed away. Nonetheless, the families have denied doing post-mortems.
