Economic Survey report released by the Bihar government

The state legislature was presented with the economic survey report by the Bihar administration on Tuesday.

The economic survey data indicates that the largest percentage of Kayastha people work for the government.

Four members of the Hindu community and three members of the Muslim community are among the seven castes that the Bihar government has classified as upper castes in the state.

In the Muslim community, Sayyad, Pathan, and Shiekh belong to the upper castes, whereas Hindus, Brahmins, Bhumihars, Rajputs, and Kayastas are classified under the higher caste group.

According to the survey, there are 52490 Kayastha people who work for the government, or 6.68 percent of them. In terms of government employment, Bhumihar comes in second. At least 4.99 percent of Bhumihar’s workforce—roughly 2 lakh people—works for the government.

At least 3.81 percent of Rajputs work for the government, and their overall population is close to 2 lakh.

Within the Muslim upper castes, 39595 members of the Sheikh caste hold government positions, representing 0.79% of the caste’s total population.

Regarding Pathans, 10517 individuals, or 1.07 percent of the population, work for the government.

In the meanwhile, at least 7231 members of the Sayyad caste—or 2.42 percent of the population—work for the government.
