“No Work in the Afternoon”: Bihar Concerns Heatwave Notice; Review Specifics

Bihar Heatwave: The state disaster management office has issued a warning and advise for 23 cities, including the state capital Patna, indicating that extreme heatwave conditions are expected to persist across Bihar for the next two days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very high temperatures for Bihar for the next several days, with sweltering heat during the day and hot, muggy temperatures at night.

After the next two days, there might be some respite, according to the weatherman, as partly cloudy sky and light precipitation are expected in the state’s southern regions. But after this short period of rain and clouds, the heatwave is expected to return with fury as the temperature is expected to rise steadily.

Advice on Disaster Management Concerns
In light of the approaching heatwave, the Bihar Disaster Management Authority (BDMA) sent a warning to state agencies on Saturday.

The government has been recommended by the BDMA to restrict public transit in the afternoon. Additionally, it has recommended that labourers working on different building and development projects set their hours from 6 AM to 11 AM in the morning and 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM at night.

The advise said that no labor-intensive activities should be permitted in the afternoon when it’s the warmest outside.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning earlier this month stating that India is expected to face intense heatwave conditions from April to June, with the western and central peninsular regions suffering the worst.

The IMD predicts that most of the nation will likely see above-normal maximum temperatures in April and June, with a high likelihood across the central and western peninsulas of India.
